Next stop lunch, having quizzed the taxi driver on local cuisine, he tells us we must try iguana. We head to the local markets in search of the soup (it's most popular form). It turns out it is only served in Westpunt on the opposing side of the island, so I press on in hope for empanada or arepa which are other local dishes I am dying to try.
Returning to my table, defeated, as they serve none of these things or just don't understand me despite my excellent repeated pronunciation of the two words, I order stewed papaya with polenta and plantain. The papaya itself is delicious, but the bad cuts of undefinable meat let the dish down. I don't like polenta, I knew i didn't (only the way my chef friend Jonny makes it for me) and the plantain is disappointing compared to the nice tapas restaurant in Byron Bay where I had tried it the first time. Lauren orders the pretty picture below and gets to work poking and digging to find some 'meat' on the body of her little friend.

We end the day with a refreshing mojito at no other than 'The World's best Mojito'. Whether it was the pressure of living up to the bars name that antagonised the extensive wait to start making our drinks, or the reason the barmaid took a trip to across the road was to cultivate the mint, we will not know. We cleverly ordered the next round as the first arrived and the third shortly after that. It was a good mojito, the world's best? I still have many more to taste!
