Known as one of the top resort adventure parks, to which I would totally agree, Atlantis in the Bahamas is a dream for kids up to an above the age of forty. The pinkness of the castlesque main structure gives it that Disneyworld feeling, the beat of the Bahamian drums outside the Daiquiri Shack add that exotic sentiment and the Mayan temple ‘ruin’s provide an imitated cultural and historic element which all cultivates in a very unique sense of place.
Of course with any holiday destination draw card; the lines are plentiful, the food and drinks laughably overpriced and the chance of finding vacant sunbeds next to each other after 10am is highly doubtful. Beyond the smoke filled Casino is an array of over priced eatery’s; Seafire Steakhouse pops in at $60 a steak and while delicious, I received my meat oozing with gore despite my request for medium-well no blood. Café Martinique is another which I would loved to have tried, if just to reach the restaurant in their bird cage elevator.
Most of our days were spent exploiting the admission to the water parks. The lazy river is really quite fun, my inflatable showed true to its name by keeping me miles behind my friends, forcing the others to hold onto each others feet to wait for me to hand-paddle myself around each corner. At times you are propelled (or launched from your ring in my case) providing that crash bandicoot revability to catch up.

If it wasn’t for the spirit of the group I can't say I would have volunteered for; The drop, The Leap of Faith, The Falls or The surge but, I braved them all (with my eyes firmly closed). I used to be a thrill seeker, but that was before I developed fears of heights, darkness and enclosed spaces and in the case of the leap of faith…sharks. This scary slide has daredevils (and 6 year old children) drop a vertical 60-foot at tremendous speed before sliding through a clear tunnel that penetrates a shark filled lagoon. I previously could not even walk under the shark tunnel in my little local aquarium, for me this was HUGE.
