It's Sunday and we decide to celebrate with brunch and plunge at the Avila hotel. We take a long, hot and hungry walk there; the plus side being that we get a real feel for the town, the graffitied buildings and pastel painted houses are really very unique. Ready to eat my body weight in bacon, I was slightly disappointed that it was more of a luncheon menu (which we should have really expected with a start time of midday). My stomach let out a little cry as I walked past the large array of fish and seafood, but I managed to fill my boots with plenty of delicious salads, a delightful carribean beef stirfry and I also got to experience something that I hadn't had before.
I was ecstatic when four mariachi singers came over to our table, especially when my friends went back to the buffet and it was my own private serendade. Just as I was singing along to their rendition of ‘Something Stupid', I take a giant slather of prosciutto and scoop up a huge blob of guacamole…or what I think is guacamole. As the happy men in coordinated colourful checked shirts reach the line of ‘by saying something stupid like I love you’, steam begins to blow out of my ears. I grab my napkin to spit this ghastly stuff out with the smiling, singing men staring straight at me. It was not guacamole, but wasabi!

That night we stumble across Cabana Beach Festival which turns out to be an epic night. Dj's Stefan Viujn and NAFFZ played some banging tunes that kept the seafront dance space wild all night long (even through the pouring rain, which actually was my highlight!).
Earlier on we had finally become enlightened on the meaning of the word 'Dushi' which is feautured and heard heavily all over the island. Dushi is a common word in Papiamento (the local language of the ABC islands) which can be used to mean sweetheart, babe, sexy or generally used to describe anything that is good in the world. On this night in our Caribbeanchic outfits we certainly were Dushi and lapped it up every time one of our fellow partygoers decide to refer it to us. 'From now on', said Lauren, 'we will only answer to Dushi'.
